Notes
What kind of apples should I use to make apple pie filling?
The best apples for making apple pie filling are apples with a tart flavor, like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples. Tart apples will hold their shape and won't turn to mush when cooked. Avoid using soft apples, like Red Delicious, because they'll turn into a pulp when baked.
How to Store Slow Cooker Apples
To save your apples, store them in an airtight container such as a freezer bag or mason jars for 4-5 days in the fridge.

The directions say to peel apples yet the pictures show them not peeled. I assume you can do it either way? I worry that the peels may be tough.
