FAQs

How long to bake a chocolate bundt cake?

As a general guideline, most chocolate Bundt cakes will typically bake for around 45 to 50 minutes at a temperature of 350°F.

How do you keep a chocolate cake from sticking to a bundt pan?

Preventing a chocolate cake from sticking to a Bundt pan is crucial for achieving a beautiful, intact cake after baking. Here are some tips for best results to help ensure your cake releases easily from the pan:

  • Thoroughly grease the interior of the Bundt pan, including all crevices and the center tube, using either butter, vegetable oil, or non-stick baking spray.
  • How do you grease a bundt pan for chocolate cake? To grease a Bundt pan for a chocolate cake, thoroughly coat the interior with softened butter, vegetable oil, or non-stick baking spray, ensuring all crevices and the center tube are covered.
  • After greasing the pan, lightly dust it with flour or cocoa powder. This helps create an additional layer of protection and ensures the cake batter doesn’t stick to the pan as it bakes.
  • Before pouring in the cake batter, preheat the greased Bundt pan in the oven for a few minutes. This helps the grease melt and adhere to the pan’s surface, creating a smoother release for the cake.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 to 15 minutes after removing it from the oven. This allows the cake to slightly shrink away from the sides of the pan, making it easier to release.
  • After the cooling time, run a thin knife or offset spatula around the edges of the cake and gently around the center tube to loosen it from the pan. Be careful not to scratch the non-stick coating if your pan has one.
  • Place a wire cooling rack upside down over the top of the Bundt pan. With one hand securely holding the rack against the pan, and the other hand on the bottom of the pan, carefully invert the pan to release the cake onto the rack.
  • If the cake doesn’t release immediately, gently tap the bottom of the pan or give it a few light shakes. The cake should then slide out onto the cooling rack.

This shiny chocolate glaze adds a decadent finish to your Bundt cake, perfect for any occasion.

How do you store a chocolate bundt cake?

To store a chocolate Bundt cake, first ensure that it has cooled completely to room temperature. If the cake will be consumed within a day or two, you can store it at room temperature. Cover the cake loosely with plastic wrap or aluminum foil to protect it from dust and keep it moist.

Does a chocolate bundt cake need to be refrigerated?

If your chocolate Bundt cake contains perishable ingredients like cream cheese frosting or whipped cream, or if you live in a warm or humid climate, it’s best to refrigerate the cake to prevent spoilage and maintain its freshness.

How do you freeze a chocolate bundt cake?
