Does raspberry taste good with chocolate?
Yes! The rich, slightly bitter notes of chocolate pair beautifully with the bright, tart sweetness of raspberries. It’s a classic flavor combo that feels both indulgent and refreshing. If you love fruity desserts with a chocolate twist, this pairing is definitely worth trying!

Start by mixing mashed ripe bananas with a box of dry chocolate cake mix, then fold in chocolate chips. You’ll want to use ripe bananas. The riper the bananas, the sweeter and moister your donuts will be.
Pipe the batter into a greased donut pan and bake. Using a piping bag, pipe the batter into a greased donut pan to help create uniform shapes and avoid a mess.
Bake and start checking for doneness at around 7 minutes. A toothpick should come out clean or with just a few crumbs.
Once the donuts have cooled on a wire rack, microwave the raspberry jam until smooth and runny and mix it with the frosting.
Dip the tops of each donut into the glaze and immediately sprinkle with your favorite toppings, and let them set.

Absolutely! Freeze the donuts without the glaze in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months. Thaw at room temp and add fresh glaze before serving!
The bananas act as a binder and add natural sweetness. You could try applesauce or pumpkin puree as substitutes, but the flavor and texture may change.
Baked donuts are lighter, easier, and healthier, while fried donuts have a classic crispy texture and richer flavor. The better option depends on your preference!

Chocolate Raspberry Donut Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 box chocolate cake mix dry
- 2 cups mashed ripe bananas
- ¾ cup chocolate chips
- 16 oz container vanilla frosting
- ½ cup raspberry jam use seedless
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F and grease a donut baking pan, set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork or potato masher.
- Stir in the dry chocolate cake mix until just combined. Gently fold the chocolate chips into the batter.
- Pour the mixture into a large ziploc bag. Cut the tip off of one corner of the bag and pipe the batter into each donut cavity about ⅔ full.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 7-8 minutes, or until the donuts are cooked through and a toothpick inserted in the donut comes out clean.
- Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
- Add the frosting and jam to a microwave safe bowl and warm in the microwave for 10-20 seconds for a runny consistency to make dipping easier.
- Dunk each donut upside down into the frosting and return to the cooling rack right-side up. Add the sprinkles on top of the donuts before the frosting sets.
- Allow frosting to fully set before serving, enjoy!
