How to Make Sweet Potato Fries in an Air Fryer

  • Slice two large sweet potatoes into fries. Soak the fries in cold water for 30 minutes for extra crispiness. This can help remove excess starch and make them crispier.
  • Then toss them in olive oil and your favorite seasonings.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F, arrange the fries in a single layer, and cook for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway through for even crisping.
  • Adjust the time as needed until they’re golden and crispy.
  • Let them cool slightly on paper towels before serving, and repeat with additional batches if necessary.
Three-step process for air fryer sweet potato fries: 1. Raw fries in a glass baking dish; 2. Uncooked fries spread on the air fryer tray; 3. Golden, crispy air fryer sweet potato fries ready to enjoy.
Do I need to peel the sweet potatoes?

Nope! Peeling is optional. Leaving the skin on adds texture and extra nutrients.

How Long to Cook Sweet Potato Fries in the Air Fryer?

Cook sweet potato fries at 400°F for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway through. Time may vary based on fry thickness and air fryer size.

Why aren’t my sweet potato fries crispy?

Avoid overcrowding the basket, use just a light coating of oil, flip the fries halfway through, and slice them evenly. For extra crunch, soak the fries in cold water before cooking.
