Get all of your ingredients ready:

To create delicious blueberry cookie dough, start by preheating your oven and preparing a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.

If using frozen blueberries, don’t thaw them beforehand to prevent them from bleeding into the dough.

Next, whisk together the dry ingredients and gently heat the blueberries until they become soft.

Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy, then mix in the blueberries at high speed to ensure they’re well incorporated.

After folding in white chocolate chips, chill the dough for better texture before shaping it into cookie balls and placing them on the prepared baking sheet.

How long does it take to make blueberry cookies?

Making blueberry cookies typically takes about 30-40 minutes in total. This includes about 15 minutes to prepare the dough, 10-12 minutes for baking, and a few minutes for cooling.

Bake until your cookies are slightly golden brown and have crispy edges. After removing from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a 5-10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. This allows the baked cookies to firm up and develop their full flavor.

Is it better to use fresh or frozen blueberries in cookies?

Both fresh and frozen blueberries can be used in cookies, each with its advantages. Fresh blueberries offer a firmer texture and vibrant flavor but may be seasonal and less available year-round. On the other hand, frozen blueberries are convenient, available year-round, and often picked at peak ripeness, though they can release more moisture and soften the dough.

How do I prevent the cookies from spreading too much?

Chilling the dough before baking can help reduce spreading. Ensure that your butter is softened but not melted, as overly soft butter can cause cookies to spread.

What should I do if my dough is too sticky?

If the dough is too sticky, you can add a little extra flour, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach a workable consistency.

Can I make the dough in advance?

Absolutely! You can prepare the cookie dough ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days or freeze it for up to 3 months. Just scoop and bake when you’re ready.

@momma lew I've made these twice now - the first time I cooked the blueberries too long and the dough was incredibly dry (a bit of milk slowly added helped). The second time turned out much better and are now hands down the favorite cookie of the household, thank you for sharing this fabulous recip3!

Hmmmm a few things could it be. I am not sure of your location, but things like your altitude, the weather, humidity come into play. You can add a piece of bread into your airtight container to help bring moisture into your cookies. Or maybe add a little bit more butter.
