How to Make Apple Crisp in an Air Fryer
- Start by preheating your air fryer to 350°F.
- Slice your apples evenly for consistent cooking—thin slices work best.
- Then toss them with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
- Mix up a crumbly topping of oats, flour, brown sugar, and butter, then layer it over the apples.
- Air fry for 15–20 minutes until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown. Don’t overcrowd your air fryer basket or baking dish. If needed, cook in batches to ensure a crispy topping.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce for the perfect cozy treat.

For the best texture and flavor, use firm apples like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Braeburn. These varieties hold up well during air frying and offer a nice balance of tart and sweet. You can even mix a couple of types for more depth of flavor!
Most air fryer apple crisps cook in 15–20 minutes at 350°F, depending on your air fryer and the size of your baking dish. The dessert is ready when the apples are fork tender and the topping is browned and crisp. If the topping is browning too quickly, loosely cover the dish with foil for the remaining cook time.
While both desserts feature baked apples with a sweet topping, the difference is in the topping itself. Apple crisp typically includes oats for a crunchy texture, while apple crumble has a streusel-like topping made with just butter, flour, and sugar—no oats.
Yes! Assemble the crisp and refrigerate it until you’re ready to cook. Air fry just before serving for the crispiest topping.
Rolled oats provide the best texture, but quick oats will also work. Avoid instant oatmeal packets.
Peeling creates a softer filling, but you can leave the peels on if you prefer a little extra texture.
Yes. Freeze after baking and cooling completely. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and reheat in the air fryer until warmed through.
