- Start by preheating your air fryer to 350°F.
- Slice your apples evenly for consistent cooking—thin slices work best.
- Then toss them with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
- Mix up a crumbly topping of oats, flour, brown sugar, and butter, then layer it over the apples.
- Air fry for 15–20 minutes until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown. Don’t overcrowd your air fryer basket or baking dish. If needed, cook in batches to ensure a crispy topping.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce for the perfect cozy treat.

Yes, you can! Just skip the step of adding sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon to the apples, since the filling is already sweetened and spiced.
For the best texture and flavor, use firm apples like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Braeburn. These varieties hold up well during air frying and offer a nice balance of tart and sweet. You can even mix a couple of types for more depth of flavor!

While both desserts feature baked apples with a sweet topping, the difference is in the topping itself. Apple crisp typically includes oats for a crunchy texture, while apple crumble has a streusel-like topping made with just butter, flour, and sugar—no oats.
If your topping isn’t crisping up, it could be due to too much moisture from the apples, not enough butter in the topping, or overcrowding the dish. Also, every air fryer is different—try air frying for a few more minutes or use a shallower dish to help the topping brown and crisp.
