What are the ingredients in Starbucks blueberry muffins?
This Starbucks copycat recipe calls for all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, eggs, plain yogurt, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and fresh or frozen blueberries. It’s topped with a buttery cinnamon crumb made from flour, melted butter, and cinnamon, giving it that bakery-style finish.
How to make blueberry muffins like Starbucks?
- Use plenty of fresh blueberries, a rich vanilla-flavored batter, and top each muffin with a buttery cinnamon streusel before baking.
- Don’t overmix the batter or the muffins can become dense.
- Fill muffin cups nearly full to create tall bakery-style tops.
- Sprinkle extra blueberries on top before baking for the classic Starbucks look.
- Adding coarse sugar on top creates the crunchy bakery finish that makes Starbucks muffins so recognizable.
- This copycat recipe delivers the same soft texture and sweet crumb topping at home.
- Fresh and frozen blueberries work well. Add them straight from the freezer without thawing to prevent excess moisture and color bleeding into the batter.

Fill the muffin cups almost to the top and avoid overmixing the batter. Baking at a higher temperature for the first few minutes can also help create taller muffin tops.
Absolutely. Allow them to cool completely, wrap individually, and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight or microwave for 20-30 seconds.
The secret to bakery-style muffins is filling the muffin cups almost to the top and baking them at a high temperature for the first few minutes. This creates a quick burst of steam that helps the batter rise into those signature domed tops. Using thick batter and a generous crumb topping also helps recreate the Starbucks look.
For tall, fluffy muffins, avoid overmixing the batter and make sure your baking powder is fresh. Fill each muffin cup about ¾ to nearly full, and if your recipe allows, start baking at 425°F for 5 minutes before reducing the temperature to finish baking. This simple trick helps create bakery-style muffin tops every time.

I made these muffins but first saw that there had to be a typo about the baking powder…3 tablespoons? I used one thinking it must have been for three teaspoons and a typo. Then the batter made 18 muffins and took about ten minutes more to bake. But…they are delicious and moist and hard not to overindulge!
Eek! Thank you so much for finding my error!!! I just updated these blueberry crumb muffins. They are my favorite, so glad you enjoyed them too!
I think the 2/3 cup sugar is listed in the ingredients as part of the topping but not in the instructions.
