Tips and Tricks for Best Results
- Opt for high-quality chocolate chips or chunks, graham cracker crumbs, and marshmallows to ensure the best flavor in your cookies.
- Before baking, refrigerate the cookie dough for at least 30 minutes. This will help the cookies hold their shape and prevent spreading during baking.
- Gently flatten the cookie dough balls with the palm of your hand or the bottom of a glass before baking. This will give the cookies a nice shape and ensure even baking.
- Add a few marshmallows on top of each cookie during the last few minutes of baking. This will give them a nice toasted appearance.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. This will help them firm up and set.
- Store the s’mores cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days. If you want to keep your cookies fresh longer, you can freeze them for up to 2 months.
FAQ
Yes, you can definitely use mini marshmallows instead of regular-sized ones. Just keep in mind that mini marshmallows may melt faster and spread more during baking, so adjust the baking time accordingly.
To prevent the marshmallows from sticking to the baking sheet, you can lightly grease the baking sheet or line it with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Yes, you can freeze the s’mores cookie dough for later use. Shape the dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze the dough balls until firm, then transfer them to a freezer bag or airtight container. When ready to bake, simply thaw the dough balls in the refrigerator and bake as directed.
To achieve a center with melty marshmallows, you can press a few extra marshmallows into the dough balls before baking. The marshmallows will melt and create a deliciously gooey center in the finished cookies.
Absolutely! You can get creative and add additional mix-ins like chopped chocolate bars, peanut butter, crushed nuts, or even caramel bits to your s’mores cookies for extra flavor and texture. Just be mindful of the cookie dough’s capacity to hold the mix-ins without affecting the overall texture. Remember to adjust baking times and temperatures accordingly if you make any modifications to the recipe.
