The donuts should be golden brown and firm to the touch. If they are not yet done, continue cooking them in one to two-minute increments until they are fully cooked. It’s important to note that cooking times may vary depending on the size and thickness of your donuts, as well as the type and model of your air fryer. So, it’s always a good idea to keep an eye on them and check them periodically to ensure they are cooked to perfection.
Allow the donuts to cool completely before storing them.
Place the donuts in an airtight container.
If you’re stacking the donuts, separate each layer with a piece of parchment paper or wax paper to prevent them from sticking together.
Store the donuts at room temperature for up to two days. If you want to store them for longer, you can freeze them for up to two months. When you’re ready to eat them, simply remove the donuts from the freezer and let them thaw at room temperature for a few hours.
To maintain the freshness and texture of the donuts, it’s best to consume them as soon as possible after they are made.
Use the scraps and middle of the donuts to make donut holes. Roll into balls with your hands. Give each one a light coating of either flour before placing them into the air fryer basket. Be sure not to overcrowd them – it’s best if there is at least some space between each hole for airflow while cooking! Set the temperature to 350°F cook for approximately 4 minutes until golden brown on both sides. After removing from heat let cool slightly before enjoying with icing sugar on top.
