Start by spraying your slow cooker generously with non-stick spray so the cake doesn’t stick or burn around the edges.

Add a can of crushed pineapple (undrained) to the bottom, then pour cherry pie filling over it.
Sprinkle the dry pineapple cake mix evenly over the fruit, then layer butter slices on top. You can easily switch out the cake mix for yellow, white, or even spice cake for a twist.
Resist the urge to mix—just layer and let the slow cooker do the rest for that classic dump cake texture.

Cover and cook on high for 2 hours.
Check for doneness with a toothpick in the center. Let it cool slightly before serving with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Stirring the layers! Stirring blends everything together and can result in a soggy, unevenly cooked mess. Just dump the ingredients in the correct order, and let the slow cooker work its magic—no mixing needed!
Yes. Once it has cooled, store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Because it contains fruit and butter, refrigerating helps keep it fresh and safe to eat.
Yes, but you’ll need to extend the cooking time to about 4 hours. Keep an eye on it and check doneness with a toothpick.
A 6-quart slow cooker works best for this recipe, giving the cake enough space to cook evenly.
