How to Make Breaded Cauliflower

  • To prep the cauliflower start by washing a whole head of cauliflower and cutting it into small, even-sized florets for uniform cooking.
  • Pat dry well after washing.

  • Toss with olive oil, season and coat the cauliflower pieces in a resealable bag and toss well to coat each piece evenly.
  • Spread the coated cauliflower florets in a single layer on a prepared baking sheet. Lightly spray the florets with cooking spray for extra crispiness.
  • Bake until the cauliflower is golden brown and crispy on the edges.

Tip: For extra crispy breaded cauliflower, avoid overcrowding the baking sheet. Hot air needs room to circulate around each floret so the coating becomes golden and crunchy instead of steaming.

Why is my cauliflower not crispy?

Too much moisture, overcrowding the baking sheet, or baking at too low a temperature can all prevent crispy cauliflower. Pat the florets dry, spread them into a single layer, and lightly coat them with oil before baking.

Do I have to boil cauliflower before breading it?

No. This recipe bakes raw cauliflower, which keeps it from becoming overly soft and helps the breading stay crisp.

Can I make breaded cauliflower in the air fryer?

Yes! Air fry at 375°F for 12–15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the breading is crisp and golden.

Can I use panko instead of regular breadcrumbs?

Absolutely! Panko breadcrumbs create an even crispier texture and brown beautifully in the oven.
