- Mixing self-rising flour, active dry yeast, and salt in a bowl.
- Stir in buttermilk and a bit of butter, then mix until a dough forms. Use warm buttermilk (around 100–110°F) to help activate the yeast for a better rise.
- Let it rise for about an hour until it doubles in size.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle, then coat it with a garlic butter and parsley mixture. Don’t overwork the dough — handle it gently to keep it airy and soft.

- Roll it into a log, cut it in half using a pizza cutter, and twist the two strips into a braided shape.
- Coil the dough – Let it rest for 10–15 minutes before baking for a fluffier texture.
- Sprinkle with parmesan or mozzarella before baking if you want a cheesy variation.
- Place it in a greased loaf pan, ready for baking.

You can make a quick substitute by mixing 1 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar—let it sit for 5 minutes before using.

Yes! Let them cool completely, wrap tightly, and freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven for best texture.
Wrap it in foil and place it in a warm oven, or use a slow cooker on the “warm” setting. You can also keep it cozy in a thermal bread basket, chafing dish, or buffet server. For best results, keep the bread whole until serving to help retain heat and softness.
