  • Once done, shred the chicken using two forks or a hand mixer, then stir everything together to create a creamy, savory gravy.
Can I prep this recipe the night before?

Yes! Assemble all the ingredients in the Crock-Pot insert, cover, and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, just place it in the base and turn it on.

Is this freezer-friendly?

Yes! Let the chicken and gravy cool completely, then store it in a freezer-safe bag or container. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.

Is it okay to put raw chicken in a slow cooker?

Yes, absolutely! They’re designed to safely cook raw meats, including chicken. As long as the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F, it’s perfectly safe.

Is it better to cook chicken on high or low in the Crock-Pot?

For best results, it’s usually better to cook chicken on LOW. The longer, slower cooking time helps the chicken stay moist and tender. Cooking on HIGH works if you’re short on time, but it may result in slightly drier meat. If you have the time, go low and slow for the best texture!

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days or frozen for later. Reheat gently in a saucepan over medium-low heat or in the microwave, adding a splash of broth or water to loosen the gravy if it thickens.
