- Start by prepping your muffin tin and preheating the oven to 350°F.
- Thinly slice fresh apples — about 1/8 inch or less. A mandoline makes this step super quick and even.
- Toss them with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon.
- Lightly flour your countertop before rolling out the puff pastry so it doesn’t stick.
- Roll out puff pastry sheets, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with a cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Cut the dough into strips, layer the apple slices along each strip, fold the pastry, and roll into a rose shape. Stick to just a few overlapping apple slices per strip to keep the roses easy to roll and bake evenly.
- Place each rose into the muffin tin and bake until golden. If the edges are browning too quickly, loosely tent with foil during the last 10 minutes of baking.
- Let cool slightly before serving—these pretty pastries are delicious warm or at room temp.

Fuji, Gala, Honeycrisp, and Pink Lady are ideal because they’re crisp, sweet, and have red skin that creates a beautiful rose-like appearance when baked.
Start by slicing the apple in half from top to bottom (stem to base), then remove the core from each half. Place the flat side down and slice the apple widthwise into thin, even slices—about 1/8 inch or thinner. The thinner the slices, the easier they’ll bend and roll into a rose shape without breaking.
Nope! Keeping the peel adds color to your rose petals and helps hold the slices together.
You can prep and roll the roses a few hours in advance and refrigerate them. Bake fresh when ready to serve for best results.
You can use ramekins or line a baking sheet with parchment and nestle the roses so they don’t unroll, but a muffin tin works best for shape support.

How to Serve Puff Pastry Apple Roses
Serve them warm or at room temperature with a dusting of powdered sugar, or dress them up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, caramel drizzle, or homemade whipped cream. They’re perfect for brunch spreads, dessert boards, or holiday gatherings, and make any occasion feel a little more special.

Puff Pastry Apple Roses Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 box 2 sheets of Pepperidge Farm puff pastry sheets
- 3 fresh apples I used Fuji apples
- ½ lemon juice
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp cinnamon powder
- 2 tbsp butter
- Powdered sugar optional
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and prepare a muffin tray with nonstick spray.
- Wash and core apples, cut them in half lengthwise, and remove the core.
- Slice the apples thinly widthwise, keeping the open side of the apple down.
- Put the thinly sliced apples in a bowl and add the juice of half a lemon.
- Add 1-2 teaspoons of sugar and a small pinch of cinnamon to the apples and mix until well combined. Set aside the remaining sugar and cinnamon.
- On a lightly floured work surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets into a rectangular shape about 1/8 inch thick.
- Melt the butter and brush it onto one side of each puff pastry sheet.
- Mix the remaining sugar and cinnamon together and spread the cinnamon sugar over the buttered puff pastry side.
- Cut each puff pastry sheet into six even strips using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter.
- Place apple slices along the strip of puff pastry and fold it over so that the apple slices are in between.
- Gently roll the pastry and apple slices together, starting from one end of the strip. As you roll, the apple slices will create the petals of the rose shape.
- Carefully transfer each rolled rose to the prepared muffin tin.
- Repeat the process with the remaining apple slices and pastry strips.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the puff pastry is golden brown and crispy.
- Allow baked apple roses to cool for 10 minutes on a wire rack before serving.
- They can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature. Serve as is or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce for added indulgence.
