This recipe is perfect for any meal. Flaky biscuits are great for breakfast with some scrambled eggs and bacon, or as a side for dinner with fried chicken or a hearty stew.
Why Use 7Up in Biscuits?
The carbonation in the lemon lime soda acts as a leavening agent, giving the biscuits an airy texture that’s hard to beat. Plus, the subtle sweetness of the soda adds a lovely flavor without making the biscuits taste sugary.
How to Make 7Up Drop Biscuits
Gather your ingredients:
Start by combining Bisquick baking mix and cold butter until the mixture forms coarse crumbs.
Next, stir in 7Up, which gives the biscuits a light and fluffy texture, and helps them rise beautifully.
These biscuits are baked in a casserole dish of melted butter.
Not only does it give them a crispy and golden bottom from the butter, but it also adds a flavor and a nice texture compared to the soft, flaky tops. The butter also helps the biscuits cook evenly, prevents them from sticking from the pan and keeps them moist and tender!
Serve 7Up drop biscuits warm with a pat of butter or pair them with your favorite jam recipe, honey, or savory spreads like herb butter for extra flavor. They’re great alongside soups and stews. For breakfast, enjoy them with eggs and bacon.

7Up Biscuit Recipe
7Up Biscuits are a light, fluffy, and buttery treat that are surprisingly easy to make. Using just a few simple ingredients, including 7Up soda, these biscuits rise beautifully and have a delicate texture with a hint of sweetness.
Ingredients
- 4 cups Bisquick Baking Mix, plus lots of extra for patting out the dough
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup 7Up
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter
Instructions
- Preheat a 425ºf oven. While the oven is preheating, place a 9x13 casserole dish with the stick of butter in the oven to melt the butter.
- Meanwhile, mix Bisquick, sour cream, and 7Up in a large mixing bowl.
- Make sure your 7Up and sour cream are cold when you add them to the mix. This helps keep the dough light and fluffy.
- Using Bisquick, flour your work surface, and pour the dough onto the surface.
- Sprinkle additional Bisquick over top.
- Fold the dough, and keep adding extra bisquick, until the dough becomes manageable and doesn't stick to your hands terribly.
- Don't forget your melting butter, remove the pan from the oven once it is melted.
- Pat dough into a 1 inch thick circle.
- Use a round biscuit cutter, or the rim of a glass, like a wine glass to cut out the biscuits.
- Place them into the buttered pan in a single layer.
- Don’t skimp on the butter in the baking dish. It adds a wonderful flavor and ensures the biscuits don’t stick.
- Keep combining the dough to cut new biscuits, until you get 12.
- Bake the biscuits for 10-12 minutes, until the tops are golden brown.
- Remove your delicious biscuits from the oven and allow the biscuits to cool some in the pan and absorb all of the butter.
