You’ll be amazed at how easy and fun these cupcakes are to make!

How to Make a Sunflower Cupcake
- Start with a batch of yellow cake mix cupcakes baked and cooled on a wire rack.
- Chill the cupcakes before decorating. Cold cupcakes are easier to pipe on and will help the buttercream hold its shape.
- Whip up a batch of vanilla buttercream, tint it with yellow food coloring, and transfer it to a piping bag fitted with a leaf tip.
- Place a mini Oreo in the center of each cupcake. If you don’t have mini Oreos, try chocolate chips, brown M&Ms, or a swirl of chocolate frosting.
- Then pipe yellow frosting petals outward from the cookie to the cupcake’s edge.
- Repeat until all cupcakes are decorated, creating a bright sunflower look that’s as fun as it is delicious.

Yes! You can bake the cupcakes a day in advance and store them in an airtight container. Frost them closer to serving for the freshest look.
The Wilton #70 leaf tip works perfectly for petals, but you can also use a #352 leaf tip or even cut a small “V” shape into a disposable bag as a quick hack.
