Green Iced Tea Recipe

We have been on an iced tea kick this summer. There’s nothing more refreshing than homemade iced tea, except for this Blackberry Mint Green Iced Tea recipe!

Years ago, the restaurant Macaroni Grille used to serve an iced tea just like this. I love to make a big pitcher of Blackberry Mint Green Iced Tea in the morning and then fill my cup with ice and enjoy it all day long.

I love sweet tea, but it’s full of so much sugar. I really enjoy finding new teas to enjoy at local markets. You can easily swap out the green tea and make this iced tea with white tea, oolong teas or black tea.

It’s the perfect way to refresh and cool down, especially at the beach or pool on hot summer days. This is one of my favorite iced tea recipes to serve at a party, bridal shower or baby shower.

You will need:

Prepare your green tea recipe by heating 2 quarts (8 cups of water) of cold water in a large saucepan over high heat on the stove just until little bubbles start to form, but not quite to boiling.

Remove from heat.

Add 4 green tea bags and a handful of mint sprigs to the water, then steep for 5 minutes. For best results and to avoid bitter flavors, it’s important to know that the longer you steep your tea, the stronger it’s flavor will be.

Make the Blackberry Simple Syrup if you haven’t already.

Remove the tea bags and discard.

Allow the hot tea to cool before straining into a pitcher.

When ready to serve, pour tea over ice cubes in mason jars or a tall glass. Stir in 1-2 tablespoons of blackberry simple syrup. Garnish with additional blackberries and a handful of mint leaves.

You can swap out the blackberries and use any fresh fruit you’d like. There are so many green tea flavors, try new things! Next time, you can use a fruit that is in the tea you are brewing, such as lemon slices, fresh lime juice, ginger slices. I do not know much about loose-leaf tea or matcha powders, but if you enjoy a green tea blend that uses loose leaf tea leaves, you can try that!
