What is a Charcuterie Board?

Charcuterie is the art of preparing meat products by salting, smoking, or drying. A charcuterie board usually consists of savory elements such as a selection of meats, cheeses, and breads.

You can get creative with your toppings and add things like olives, grapes, or dried fruit. Cheeses that are often included on a charcuterie board include soft cheese such as blue cheese, brie, camembert, cheddar, gouda, gruyère, and Swiss. Typical meats that are used in charcuterie include ham, bacon, sausage, and pâté.

The key to creating a picture-perfect board that is robust and appealing is to cover as much of the empty spaces on the board as you can. A pop of color and texture really matter.
