How To Make a Snowman Cheese Ball
- Soften cream cheese and mix it with a seasoning packet and shredded cheese.
- Shape the mixture into two balls for the head and body, then chill until firm.
- Roll them in more shredded cheese, stack to form a snowman, and decorate with peppercorns, a baby carrot, and asparagus for arms.
- Try different mix-ins like bacon bits, green onions, or diced jalapeños for a savory twist.
- For a festive touch, garnish with rosemary or cranberries and customize the flavor with your favorite cheese blend.
👉 Tip: For the best texture, shred your own cheese rather than using pre-shredded—it blends more smoothly into the mixture.

Make ahead: You can prepare the cheese balls 1–2 days in advance. Store them tightly wrapped in plastic wrap in the fridge until ready to assemble.
It’s not recommended, as freezing can change the texture. Stick to refrigerating instead.
Use smooth, flavorful varieties that blend easily. Start with cream cheese as the base, then mix in shredded cheddar, Monterey Jack, or pepper jack for flavor and texture. You can also add Parmesan or smoked Gouda for extra richness and depth.
What should I serve with a cheese ball?
- Crackers: Buttery Ritz, Triscuits, Wheat Thins, or water crackers for a classic choice.
- Pretzels: Pretzel twists, rods, or crisps add the perfect salty crunch.
- Veggies: Fresh carrots, celery sticks, cucumber slices, mini bell peppers, and cherry tomatoes balance the richness.
- Bread: Cubes of crusty baguette, pita chips, or toasted bagel chips make hearty dippers.

This cheese ball is a hit every year! Everyone always gobbles this up. I put it on a platter and make a different “scene” every year. I have fun using various veggies decorations to make it more fun; green and red pepper slices for a scarf, celery and broccoli “trees” etc.
