Dr Pepper adds a unique, subtle blend of spices and a hint of cherry that complements the rich taste of the chocolate cake mix. It gives your cupcakes an unexpected twist and additional sweetness that sets them apart from traditional chocolate cupcakes.
The carbonation in the soda helps to keep the cupcakes moist and helps create a light and fluffy texture. The carbonation also acts as a leavening agent, helping the cupcakes rise and become airy.
Incorporating Dr Pepper into your chocolate cupcake mix is a fun way to experiment with flavors and create a dessert that stands out!
How to Make Dr Pepper Chocolate Cupcakes
Gather the following ingredients:
Use room temperature eggs and butter to create a smoother batter that will mix more easily.
Don’t overmix the batter. Stir until just combined for the fluffiest results.
To frost the cupcakes, start from the center of the cupcake and pipe in a circular motion, working your way outward. For a classic swirl, start from the outer edge and work your way inward, finishing in the center.
Or use a spatula or knife to smooth the frosting.
Top with a maraschino cherry or drizzle with chocolate sauce for a fun soda-shop style finish.
Store the cupcakes in an airtight container for up to 3 days. You can also freeze them (unfrosted) for up to 3 months.
