How to Make Grinch Hot Chocolate Bombs
To make these adorable hot chocolate bombs, start by gathering your ingredients.
Then, melt the chocolate. To prevent the chocolate from cracking or melting too quickly, try to temper it by melting in 30 second intervals. Ghirardelli melting wafers are a great option as they melt smoothly and harden well without too much fuss.
For a festive touch, you can either use white candy melts with green food coloring or simply opt for green candy melts. If using white chocolate, melt it first, then add drops of green food coloring a little at a time, stirring well after each addition to get the shade just right.
Use a silicone mold to shape the chocolate shells, ensuring they’re thick enough to hold all the goodies inside.
After letting the shells harden, gently pop them out and fill each with hot cocoa powder and marshmallows.
Get creative with your filling! Add a sprinkle of crushed candy canes, mini chocolate chips, or even a dash of cinnamon for extra flavor. Just don’t overload the bomb, as it may not close properly.
Seal the edge of the halves cleanly by warming a plate in the microwave, then briefly place the edges of one chocolate half on it to create a smooth surface for sealing. This helps the two halves stick together with a clean finish.
For a festive look, drizzle melted chocolate on top and place a red candy heart slightly off-center—perfect for Grinch-themed flair!
Just drop one Grinch cocoa bomb into a mug, pour over a mug of hot milk, and watch the chocolate melt into a festive, cozy treat.
To wrap hot chocolate bombs for Christmas gifts, place each bomb in cellophane bags, tie with a festive ribbon, and add a tag with serving instructions. For an extra-special gift, pair with marshmallows or a cute holiday mug. These treats are perfect for teachers, neighbors, coworkers, or anyone who loves a cozy holiday surprise!
Store your hot chocolate bombs in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or in the fridge if you prefer. Avoid freezing, as it can cause the chocolate to develop a white coating from temperature changes.
About 6-8 ounces of hot milk per bomb should give you a perfectly rich hot chocolate. Adjust the amount to suit your preferred strength!

Make festive Grinch Hot Chocolate Bombs for the ultimate holiday drink!
Ingredients
For the Hot Chocolate Bombs:
- 10 oz Ghirardelli white chocolate melting wafers
- Green food coloring
- 16 Tablespoon hot cocoa mix
- 24 mini marshmallows
- Chocolate red heart candies
For Serving:
- 6-8 oz milk
Instructions
In a microwave-safe container, warm the chocolate as instructed on the package until it melts. Stir until smooth.
Add 15-20 drops of green food coloring to the melted chocolate 5-6 drops at a time and stir to incorporate the dye.
Place the silicone mold on a baking sheet or cutting board.
Spoon 1 tablespoon of melted green chocolate into each well of the mold.
Using the back of the spoon, spread the chocolate up the sides of each well, creating a complete layer that covers the entire mold.
As the edge starts to harden, spread some more chocolate to thicken the edge.
Pour out any excess chocolate that pools on the bottom of the mold.
Move the mold to the fridge and let it sit for approximately 10 minutes.
Remove the mold from the fridge and carefully flip it over so that the rounded side is facing up.
Gently press the center of each well and peel the silicone mold away from the hardened chocolate shell. Be cautious not to apply too much pressure to avoid cracking the shell.
Warm a plate then place one half of the chocolate shell, rounded side up, on the heated surface.
Allow the edge of the shell to melt slightly until it creates a smooth and even edge that can be used to seal the bomb.
Take one half of the chocolate bomb and position it on a cookie sheet.
Fill this half with 2 tablespoons of hot chocolate mix and 6-8 mini marshmallows.
Place the other half of the chocolate bomb on the heated plate.
Carefully position it on top of the filled shell.
The melted edges of the chocolate will meet and serve as a "glue" to secure the two halves together.
For decoration, drizzle melted chocolate over the top of the bomb and apply the red heart offset from the top center.
Notes
For serving, place the bomb at the bottom of a mug, pour hot milk over the bomb slowly to watch it melt and develop into hot cocoa.
