1 cup fresh lemon juice + 1 cup sugar + 5–6 cups cold water
You can adjust the sweetness or tartness depending on your taste.
Use fresh lemon juice and dissolve the sugar properly. Many people make a simple syrup (sugar dissolved in warm water) before mixing it with lemon juice and cold water. This prevents gritty sugar and creates a smooth, balanced drink.
Eureka and Lisbon lemons are juicy, bright in flavor, and widely available in grocery stores. Meyer lemons are another option if you prefer a sweeter, less tart lemonade since they have a natural hint of orange flavor.
What can I put in lemonade to make it taste better?
- Fresh fruit – strawberries, raspberries, or blackberries
- Herbs – mint, basil, or rosemary
- Sparkling water – for a fizzy version
- Honey or agave – instead of sugar
- Citrus blends – lime or orange juice
- Simple syrups – vanilla, lavender, or berry flavored like Blueberry syrup or blackberry syrup.
