Can I use a different pie filling?

Yes! Apple, cherry, or blueberry pie filling all work well and pair nicely with the cinnamon cereal.

Do I have to use white cake mix?

No—yellow or butter cake mix also works and adds a richer flavor.

Can I make this ahead of time?

You can bake it a few hours in advance, but it’s best served warm. Reheat individual portions in the microwave before serving.
