This easy cold brew coffee recipe shows how to make cold brew at home with simple ingredients. Smooth, low-acid coffee perfect for iced drinks.
Roughly grind 1½ cups of coffee beans, keeping the grind coarse (similar to sea salt).
Add the ground coffee and water to a large pitcher or jar. Stir gently to combine.
Cover and refrigerate for 12–24 hours, depending on how strong you prefer the flavor.
Line a fine mesh strainer with cheesecloth or a paper coffee filter. Slowly pour the mixture through to remove the grounds.
Transfer the strained concentrate to a clean container and keep refrigerated.
Cold brew is a concentrate. Dilute before drinking: ½ cup concentrate ½ cup water or milk and ice. Adjust to taste.
Store cold brew concentrate in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. For the best flavor, keep it undiluted until ready to serve, then mix with water or milk over ice.
Use glass containers like mason jars or pitchers with lids to help preserve freshness and prevent the coffee from absorbing refrigerator odors.
Tip: If the flavor starts to taste flat or overly bitter after several days, it’s time to make a fresh batch.
