The 2016 Mazda CX 5
At the beginning of this month, we took a road trip to Camelback Lodge’s new indoor watepark, Aquatopia for the Build Your Influence Summit.
My best friend and her husband took on the challenge of watching my children at the waterpark so I could attend the conference and we didn’t want to take two cars. My friends at Drive Shop were so generous to allow me to test drive the 2016 Mazda CX 5.
We met up around 6am to head up to the Poconos and I was ready to squish on in to the Mazda CX 5 in the dark early morning hours. Except, a funny thing happened. Two kids in booster seats and 3 adults got into the car comfortably, with plenty of leg room, with our luggage in the trunk.
I currently own a Nissan Rogue and we can never fit comfortably with 3 adults. My friend’s husband is a tall guy at 6’4″ and I knew I wanted to do the best I could to accommodate him since they were helping me out big time. The leg room and comfort in the front and back of the Mazda CX-5 was very unexpected for a Crossover SUV.
We test drove the 2016 Mazda CX 5 during the week of torrential rain thanks to Hurricane Joaquin and a northeaster. In my opinion, if you ever want to see what a car is made of and how it is going to keep your family safe, test drive in rains like this. The Mazda CX 5 hugs the road and gives you an overall feeling of protection in rain or shine.
The 2016 Mazda CX-5 was given a 2015 Top Safety Pick Plus by the IIHS when equipped with Smart City Brake Support. The brakes in the Mazda CX 5 are something to really take note. There is no question whatsoever if this car will stop, it is almost immediate upon putting your foot onto the brake that the car stops. The Smart City Brake Support system automatically applies the brakes if it determines that a collision with an obstruction ahead is unavoidable.
The Mazda CX 5 boasts an economic 35 MPG, which puts it first in it’s class for fuel efficiency.
With a starting MSRP of $21,795 the Mazda CX 5 is an affordable, safe option for families or those looking for a Crossover SUV.
