How Do You Make Texas Toast French Toast?

French toast ingredients:

These ingredients create a delicious and classic French toast recipe, but you can always add your own twist with toppings or flavorings!

Use Stale Bread because it will soak up the custard mixture better without becoming soggy. You can leave the bread slices out overnight to dry them slightly.

Take each slice of Texas toast and dip it into the egg mixture, coating both sides.

While Texas toast is thicker than regular bread, don’t soak it too long in the egg mixture or it may become mushy. A few seconds on each side should be enough.

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and butter the pan generously as it helps create that perfect golden crust on the French toast.

Once melted, place the soaked bread slices in the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.

How do you rewarm a French toast?

Reheat leftover French toast in a 350°F oven for 5-10 minutes for a crispy finish. You can also microwave it for a quick reheat, but it may not be as crispy

How many eggs do you need to make French toast?

Typically, you’ll need about 2 eggs per cup of milk or cream for a basic French toast mixture. This ratio works well for about 4 slices of bread, depending on thickness.

What can I use in place of Texas toast for French toast?

If you don’t have Texas toast, you can substitute with another thick-sliced bread such as brioche or challah. These breads also work well for absorbing the egg mixture and create a rich, fluffy French toast.
