It’s time to Make a New Friend on Sesame Street! Sesame Street Live Make a New Friend is visiting the State Theatre from Thursday April 2 through Sunday April 5th in seven great shows. When Grover’s friend from India, Chamki, visits Sesame Street, Elmo, Abby Cadabby and all of their friends are taught some very important lessons of friendship. Because Chamki is visiting for just one day, Grover tries to pack everything he can think of onto his to-do list. When the Sesame Street friends find that they have many cultural similarities with Chamki, Grover’s to-do list is quickly forgotten about.
Sesame Street Live Make a New Friend is a high-energy musical event celebrating our differences as individuals, diversity and how we all love the universal similarities of singing, dancing and sharing cookies!

Sesame Street Live Make a New Friend is by far the best Sesame Street Live show I have seen yet! It takes very real and important scenarios that children (and adults) today face and turns it into a learning exercise. Diversity can be very difficult for a child to understand. It just doesn’t make sense sometimes why people are different from you. Sesame Street Live Make a New Friend helps children understand that no matter who you are or where you come from, we are all the same inside.
My family loved how Make a New Friend featured some of today’s top musical hits and put a Sesame Street Spin on them. Our personal favorite was the remix of Maroon 5’s Moves Like Jaggar. Each song had the entire audience, young and old, out of their seats dancing and singing along. It’s been a long time (maybe even never) since I have seen that happen at a children’s performance.
