One of our favorite breakfasts when we travel is Biscuits with Gravy. It seems here in the North, they aren’t so popular.

So, because of this, I like to make it for breakfast here at home. This Instant Pot Sausage Gravy Recipe is delicious over my homemade buttermilk biscuits.

Biscuits with Sausage Gravy is a super hearty, stick to your ribs kind of meal.

The best part about making this Sausage Gravy Recipe is that it’s fast! A total of 20 minutes.

You will need:
ground sausage, chicken or vegetable broth, milk, salt, flour, black pepper and homemade or canned biscuits.

Press sauté mode on your instant pot. Place your ground sausage in the instant pot and brown.

Once your ground sausage is fully cooked add in your chicken broth.

Lock the lid on your instant pot and close the ceiling valve. Set your instant pot to high pressure for six minutes.

While your instant pot is on pressure cook, in a separate bowl, whisk together your flour, milk, salt, and pepper.

Once your instant pot has finished, do a quick release, and pour in your flour mixture. Mixed together.

Can I Make This Sausage Gravy Recipe in Advance?

Absolutely! Be sure to cool your sausage gravy completely. Then store in an airtight container. I would say it’s best to keep your gravy for about 24 hours. To heat it back up, pour it into a saucepan until it is heated through.

Some tips you’ll want to know when making my Sausage Gravy Recipe:

No biscuits? No problem! Serve your sausage gravy over toast, fried chicken or hash browns.

I am pretty sure you will want to serve your gravy over my very easy buttermilk biscuit recipe. If you could believe it, it’s made out of pancake mix.

Be sure to season your sausage gravy with salt and lots of pepper. You may also want to use a seasoned breakfast sausage as well.

  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Homemade or canned biscuits
