Welcome to the Momma Lew Summer Road Trip Series! Throughout the summer we will be traveling throughout the Northeast to bring you the best attractions and fun for your family!
Over twenty years ago, my parents used to take us to the Pennsylvania Dutch country every summer. The highlight of our trip was our time at Hersheypark and staying at the Hershey Lodge. As an adult, I couldn’t wait to share those same memories with my own children some day. It’s very nostalgic when you are able to travel somewhere that had such wonderful memories in your childhood. My own family has traveled to Hershey,PA over the last five years or so, but we never stayed at a Hershey property. When we were making plans for this summer, we decided staying at the Hershey Lodge was the way to go.
From the moment you arrive on the Hershey Lodge property, you can tell you are a valued guest. From the concierge holding the door for you and directing you where to park to check in. The kids thought it was just the coolest thing that there was their own “Kid’s Check In” area.
Everyone gets a chocolate bar when you check in!
We arrived early in the day Saturday morning with the plan of spending our day at Hersheypark. Our hotel room wasn’t ready just yet, so the clerk checked us in and gave us a key card so we can board the shuttle bus. One of the reasons we wanted stay on Hershey property was because of the shuttle bus. Once we parked our car, we didn’t have to move it for the rest of our trip. Not having to pay for parking at the theme park was great.
The shuttle ride was about 10 minutes to the theme park and it dropped us off right outside Hershey’s Chocolate World. I remember in previous trips that after parking we had to walk for miles it seemed to get to the front of the park. Anyone with kids knows that the less walking the better when it comes to little legs. After our day in the theme park, we boarded the bus back to the Hershey Lodge. The buses run continuously throughout the day until after the park closes.
While we were out at the park, a clerk at the Hershey Lodge called to let us know our room was ready and to come by the front desk whenever we were ready.
We were really blown away at how nice our hotel room was. All of the electronics were updated. The room was spotless. We have stayed in A LOT of hotels and quite frankly, I have never seen a hotel as spotless as the Hershey Lodge.
Thank you for the great tote bag full of delicious Hershey Chocolates, Hershey Lodge!

My favorite part of the hotel room? Besides smelling like delicious chocolate from the scented toiletries? I loved the towels. My husband and I are tall people and we always are finding hotel towels to be cheap and small. The Hershey Lodge had the biggest and fluffiest towels I have ever seen! The room also included a mini-fridge and a coffee maker.
My kids are like little fish, so after we got settled back in our room we hit the pool. This was when I realized I had forgotten to bring my kid’s float devices and panicked. Thank goodness, the Hershey Lodge came to the rescue! Show your room card and sign out your life devices from the life guard. Yes, I said life guard. In all our travels, I have never encountered a hotel with a lifeguard, let alone multiple lifeguards, on duty – inside and out – until the pool closes at night. Right outside the pool area was Ripples. Ripples sold snacks, drinks and light fare. There was also a game/recreation area as well.
We just ordered pizza when we got back up to our room since it was after 10pm already. The front desk was very friendly and gave us the names and numbers of a few local pizza places who delivered to the hotel. We slept in the next day and then enjoyed some more pool time and then headed over to the miniature golf course right on the premises before we checked out and headed home.
This was awesome. We have done mini golf before and we are always astounded at how much it costs for our family of 4 to play (usually around $25-30). The fact that it’s always a 18 course hole, confuses me because my kids always lose interest around hole 9! We loved that we didn’t have to shell out a single dollar over this game! The course was shaded too, which was a plus.
While we were checking out, we ran into this fun character roaming the lobby!
We stayed at the Hershey Lodge for just a short weekend. I wish we could have stayed longer because there was so much to do and see without having to travel too far at all.
