Disney Book Group sent me a copy to check out and is partnering with me for a giveaway!
It’s Halloween time! So, there’s nothing more fun than really a good spooky book! My daughter is currently reading HEART OF THE MOORS by New York Times by bestselling author Holly Black.
Heart of the Moors is a captivating original novel set between Disney’s Maleficent and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, in which newly-queened Aurora struggles to be the best leader to both the humans and Fair Folk. Under her reign; her beau, Prince Phillip, longs to get to know Aurora and her kingdom better; and Maleficent has trouble letting go of the past.
To celebrate the release of Heart of the Moors, we made these delicious Maleficent Inspired Cupcakes. If you love red velvet, you will want to enjoy these purple velvet cupcakes.
How to Make these Maleficent Inspired Cupcakes
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.
In a small bowl, cream together butter, vanilla extract, eggs, and sugar.
Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Add in buttermilk.
Mix together.
Fold in 2-3 drops of purple food coloring.
Fill the cupcake liners with batter about 2/3 full. Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until the centers come out clean when poked with a toothpick.
For the frosting, I like to use a simple vanilla buttercream frosting, tinted with purple food coloring.
