How to Put a Cheese Board Together for your next get together.
This past June, I had the pleasure of meeting some of the lovely members of the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board (WMMB) aka: Wisconsin Cheese at the Summer Fancy Food Show. Wisconsin Cheese is a nonprofit organization that is funded by Wisconsin’s dairy farmers to help promote over 600 varieties, types and styles of Wisconsin cheese and the other dairy products. For every 100 pounds of milk produced, 10 cents goes into the dairy board to promote cheese.

A cheese board is the perfect appetizer to any party or get together. It’s the perfect accompaniment to a glass of wine and can surely be enjoyed all on it’s own as a delicious lunch or brunch.
How to put your cheese board together
Let your cheeses sit out at room temperature for about one hour before putting your cheese board together. I was actually shocked to find out from Wisconsin Cheese that you do not need to refrigerate cheese and it prefers to be kept at around 50 degrees. Leaving the cheeses at room temperature will allow them the cheese’s full flavors to come out.
You will want to add anywhere from three to five different types of cheeses. Pick from soft, semi-soft, semi-hard, and hard. Arrange your cheeses on a cheese or cutting board. To add a hint of sweetness to the blue cheese, I drizzled some local honey on top.
Next, you’ll want to add some delicious fruits, crackers and breads, and nuts. You want to balance savory and sweet items. Think of items that are in season. I chose some of the delicious peaches we picked up at a local market, strawberries and cherries. I love prosciutto, so I picked up some to fill in around the board.
