Summer is already winding down and we are doing everything we can to take advantage of our carefree days. Summertime gives us the chance to think out of the box and get creative at home with the kids! I love being able to have the time to do fun activities with the kids like these colorful Tie Dye shirts!
I think it is safe to say that pretty much every activity that we do with the kids entails snacks and drinks. After doing such a great activity like tie dying t-shirts, I thought a drink like Tampico Mango Punch with only 30 calories per serving, would be the perfect way to add a little bit more color to our day. It’s always a colorful life whenever Tampico is involved, just like these beautiful tie dye t-shirts my kids made!
How to Make Tie Dye T-Shirts
- Cotton White T-Shirt – Look through your drawers first! We have a ton of white t-shirts from activities the kids have done.
- Rubber gloves
- Dye – You can find a dye kit at a local craft store
- Plastic Wrap or large storage bags
When you are finished dying your shirt, cover it in the plastic wrap or in the storage bag.
Leave the tie dyed shirts in a warm place to help the colors absorb into the fabric for 8-24 hours. Since it’s summertime, we just left ours outside on the porch.
When it is time to unwrap your shirts, put on old clothes and gloves again.
Rinse and wring the shirts in cold water until the water runs clean. We like to do this part outside in the hose spicket.
When the water comes out clean, wash your shirts on a normal wash cycle in the washing machine and dry. Hint: Wash your shirts by themselves the first few washes.
This summer, Tampico challenged us to do create a summertime scrapbook, documenting all of our colorful summer moments together as a family! We’ve had a picnic, went to the beach, and created fish tacos.
I hope you will follow along and do your own colorful Summer Scrapbook Challenge with Tampico!
