The weather has finally warmed up here. I feel like the winter was never going to end! Now we are all about being outside! My kids get home from school and literally do not come in the house until it is dark. And that is how I like it!
Of course, that means lots of picnics outside! Dinner becomes an impromptu picnic and it’s so fun! A lot of times our friends join us! What makes it fun is that there’s no major planning involved, it’s spontaneous!
How to Host an Impromptu Picnic
We had a some time off together recently and instead of planning a list of non-stop activities, we decided to keep it relaxed and fun with a “MayCation” . Our “MayCation” is just a little spin on a “staycation” where we just spend time together as a family! I hope it inspires you spend colorful moments together with your family!
Pick a Place
Usually we end up in someone’s backyard. It’s the likely location because we’re all playing outside and it dawns on us that it’s dinner time. But sometimes we just had way too much fun and didn’t want to leave the park, beach or playground and that becomes our picnic location!
Time to Eat
Since it’s impromptu, you it’s going to be simple. Use what you have! Pull out the cheese, crackers, fruit and veggies. Or maybe there are some salads or cold cuts left over from lunch. Dips like hummus are perfect too. Think about the leftovers you have in your fridge, can they become a new dish? In the warmer months I keep burgers and hot dogs on hand so that is always an option for our fun picnics!
What you need
When the weather gets warmer, I keep things like disposable napkins, plates, and silverware on hand for when impromptu picnics just like this come up! Bring out a blanket or sheet and you are set. Create a little picnic set for yourself to make this even easier!
Keep yourself refreshed
My kids love Tampico, so I keep that on hand. The gallon size Blue Raspberry and Citrus Punch make sharing with our friends a breeze! It’s a colorful life whenever Tampico is involved! Tampico is the positively irresistible juice drink that makes your family’s lives more colorful—with only 30 calories per serving!
