My husband and I recently had a discussion on how we start being better examples for our children with our eating habits. Our pledge coincided with National Nutrition Month, so it was really perfect timing!
Creating a Healthy Family for National Nutrition Month
One of our goals was to get our family moving more! We’ve been really enjoying getting outside to explore trails, beaches, new playgrounds, new bike paths and more to keep us physically active. We have a 7 month old puppy who loves to enjoy these things with us!

Take Action for Healthy Kids
I recently heard about the Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK) through my friends at Babbleboxx. This nonprofit is working to bring together educators and families to create healthier schools and communities that support the physical and emotional health of children.
Their new Take Action for Healthy Kids campaign is encouraging parents like us to take 200,000 (WOAH!) actions for healthier kids in 2020! Whether it’s participating in healthy programs at your school or taking steps as a family to improve nutrition, physical activity and well-being at home.
AFHK recently found that 76% of parents said they have improved their own habits based on something their child told them about health and well-being! My own kids are so fortunate to have programs like Jump Rope for Heart, a comprehensive health program where they learn about nutrition and starting this year, they have physical education 3 times a week! It’s so important for kids to learn about these things at school because it really does trickle back down to us adults to make the changes we need to right at home!
You can take action for your kids by joining the movement and commit to Take Action for Healthy Kids at www.actionforhealthykids.org/win by March 31, 2020 and be entered to win a healthy taste test kit to host a fun and tasty nutrition education activity for students at your child’s school. (valued at $175)
We are also trying to make small changes throughout the house when it comes to what we eat. Check out some of our favorite new products!
