10 Tips for An Amazing Camping Trip with your Kids
Research your campsite ahead of time
Doing a little bit of research ahead of time will help you better plan for what to bring with you when you go camping. Some campsites might have on-site grilling areas or even bathrooms. Do research first to know what your campsite has to offer so you can be better prepared.
Be prepared for all kinds of weather
The weather will change when you are least expecting it. If you are camping somewhere you’ve never been before, then you may need to adjust what you bring for the weather. Bring all kinds of weather essentials so you can be prepared while you’re out there.
Set up camp when you first arrive
After driving it might not be the first item on your to-do list. However, use the daylight to your advantage and go ahead and set up your campsite! This will not only help build excitement for your kids but also give you a home base.
If you are still taking business calls or letting your kids use their tablets while you’re camping, it will kind of take away from the experience. Unplug completely as soon as you arrive at the campsite.
Find creative ways to light your campsite
At night, it will get dark. This should come as no surprise, but this also means you need to find a way to light up your campsite. Keep fun flashlights, glowsticks, and other tools to help you brighten your camp without having to rely on a single lantern.
Plan fun games and activities
If you have never been camping or don’t much care for hiking, you may want to plan some activities to do. Bring board games or plan a few games to keep everyone entertained.
Do some meal planning
If you have the foresight to do some meal planning, you can plan a few fun meals to have over the campfire! Hot dogs are always exciting when they are over the campfire, but you can make so many other things too!
Bring plenty of bug spray and sunscreen
No one wants to go on a trip that involves sunburn or bug bites. Make sure you have plenty of bug spray and sunscreen on hand so you can avoid these problems while camping.
Be smart about what you bring
Left out food can attract wildlife, so be smart about what you are bringing with you. You need to be able to lock up food and other supplies at night, so if you aren’t prepared to bring them with you in the car, you need to have a plan.
Get your kids involved
Have your kids choose the hiking trail or choose what kinds of snacks to bring. If you get them involved with the trip, they’ll have a much better time.
No matter what age your kids are or if they’ve even been camping before, you can plan a fun trip with your kids that they’ll never forget.
