What You Need to Know About Watching a NASCAR Race at Pocono Raceway
*Thank you to Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau for hosting our stay! Thank you to Toyota for providing the 2018 Rav4 Limited for our test drive.
The final stop on our weekend of thrills in the Poconos was watching the Gander Outdoors 400 NASCAR race at Pocono Raceway. Known as the “Tricky Triangle” because it is the only triangular race track in the Americas, checking out a race is something you have got to do with the kids! Here’s what you need to know about watching a NASCAR Race at Pocono Raceway.
It’s family friendly
You may not think of a NASCAR race family friendly. But, Pocono Raceway goes out of their way to make it fun for the kids. There’s all types of ticket packages to suit your family.
Get there early!
While the race doesn’t start until later on in the afternoon, there’s plenty to do before hand! Check out the #PoconoMtns Inclusive Playground, grab some food, check out the fan fair which has shops, lots of free games and giveaways, food and drinks and so much more.
Pick up a Pit/Paddock Pass
Your kids will love seeing the cars up close! Plus, you can sometimes meet the drivers and get autographs!
Bring your own food and drink
We all know it can get expensive when you have kids. They seem to want everything and anything. Pack a 12×12 cooler full of what your family enjoys.
New to Nascar?
If you’re like us, you may not know the 411 on the drivers. Just pick a number or driver and cheer them on!
Bring ear protection
While due to the layout of the racetrack, it isn’t as loud as other races we have been to, it’s still pretty loud, especially for the kids. So, don’t forget to bring some ear protection for the family.
To get to the race at Pocono Raceway, we drove the 2018 Toyota Rav-4 Limited.
Our favorite features of the 2018 Toyota Rav4?
Keyless entry, foot activated lift gate, tons of safety features, the navigation system, leather seats, the crazy amount of space in the backseat for my two very tall kids.
