Enjoy Your Town with Burbio.com
8 years ago, one of the reasons I started my blog was because of the boredom of being a new stay at home mom. Don’t get me wrong, I loved being a new mom, but I struggled with going from working a busy job to being home everyday. I would scour the internet day after day searching for something fun and awesome to do, somewhere to go. I figured I couldn’t possibly be the only person feeling this way! And I wasn’t!
Julie Roche, a mother of 4 from New York, like me, had been frustrated in the way she was trying to find the things going on locally. So, she took action and created Burbio.com. Burbio.com, is a calendar platform that allows you to create a personalized hyper- local calendar feed, sync with your personal calendar and receive update notifications in real time in over 80 New Jersey communities as a part of its 250+ town network covering Boston to Washington, DC. “The goal of Burbio is to make it easier for us to enjoy the towns we live in,” said Roche.
“Burbio solves local communication problems by automating what is a highly manual, process of keeping track of school and community events and makes it simple and easy,” said Julie Roche, Burbio co-founder. Burbio.com compiles comprehensive local event information through automation and calendar publishing tools and then by using location-based discovery, users can create a personalized calendar feed. My favorite feature of Burbio? The notification when your events change.
Currently, you can find over 10,000 school, community, library and government calendars live streamed on Burbio.com. As a member of my school’s PTO, I am planning on using Burbio to post our events to appear on the service and Alexa for free! That’s right, Burbio is excited to announce that it has launched all of its events on Amazon Alexa! Residents of Burbio’s towns can just “Ask Alexa” questions like “What is happening at Mendham Library?” or “What is happening at Ridgewood High School?” and Alexa will let you know!
