As the summer gets closer, you might be searching for that perfect book to through in your beach bag. I can’t recommend Nan Rossiter’s new title Under A Summer Sky.
It was a fast read that I couldn’t put down. It was the type of book where you get entranced with the characters and they become close to your heart.
The New York Times bestselling author’s latest book takes place in Cape Cod and is about the lives of two close local families who are spending the summer preparing for a wedding. The lead character Laney Coleman has many things on her mind over the course of the summer as the mother of sons ranging in age from 21 to 8 years old. The fact that her son Micah wants to use his family’s home as his wedding venue weighs heavily on her mind among everything else because her husband who is growing in age, Noah forgot to mention this key information. Noah is a minister and I highly enjoyed the sermons that were spoken throughout the book. Under A Summer Sky is the type of novel that brings home real issues that you and I deal with everyday as mothers in our homes. I really enjoyed the Cast of Characters that Rossiter included in the beginning of the book, as I had never seen this in a novel before. It really helped me get a sense of order throughout the story.
If you are thinking of reading Under A Summer Sky for your reading group, there are some thought provoking questions at the end perfect for your group to discuss.
