Growing up I never had an American Girl Doll. In fact, I only learned of them recently as an adult! My 2 year old knows what they are thanks to the catalogs that I mysteriously receive in the mail. I recently bought her first doll. I got a doll that was being retiring, it was much cheaper than normal prices and it is currently in the back of my closet. My plan is to give it to her when she is about 4 years old. I’d like to give her the doll for Christmas and then take her to the American Girl store as a birthday present a few months later.
My friend and I scoped it out for her last month in a trip to NYC. We thought it would be odd for two grown women to be shopping & dining at the store, but nope, it was so much fun! We decided to make reservations for dinner there as well. If you have ever been to NYC you know how expensive everything is. So we were shocked to have a delicious & affordable meal. If you have a special occasion coming up and are near an American Girl store, I highly recommend celebrating your special little girl here.
Of course in my own obsession with my daughter’s secret doll, I know love to find little doll clothes. During Christmas time, I attended a local Craft Fair and I couldn’t believe how many people make American Girl clothes! Then I found out my sweet friend Erica makes them! AND even better? For a third of the cost of others I have seen. AND the quality of her dresses is definitely that of an experienced dress maker. She makes some adorable Party Dresses and some beautiful Colonial Dresses if you have a historical doll.
Definitely go check out her shop on Etsy, LoveBugCrafts! I ordered 2 Spring dresses recently from her to give to a friend as a birthday gift.
If you decide to order (and I hope you will!), Erica has offered my readers a free shipping coupon! Just add promo code: FAVFREESHIP.
