How Comcast Xfinity is Making Life Easier

As an Xfinity X1 customer, I was shocked to learn I was barely using the platform to it’s maximum potential!
I am sure you have seen the commercials about the Xfinity X1 voice remote. It’s such an easy way to search for your favorite networks, actors, movies, set your DVR recordings, change the channel and more! If you are unsure what to even say to your remote — just say “What Should I Say” and it help you!
One of my favorite features that I just started using over this past weekend is the integrated Xfinity apps. Up until now, we were still using our TV’s remote to change to our favorite apps like Netflix and Pandora. Well now, Xfinity has integrated these favorites into their interface! You can even log into your Instagram account and see your beautiful pictures straight on the big screen!
As a mom, I am always searching for my kid’s favorite shows. If you have younger kids, you know when they want something, they don’t mean within the five minutes it takes to find it, they want it now! Just hit the guide button twice and you will be taken right to the Kids Zone, a safe and secure place for kids to be able to explore their favorite content!
I have recently started noticing that a few of my neighbors have signs saying their homes are monitored by Xfinity Home. Xfinity Home is Comcast’s total home security and automation solution. We’ve been intrigued to know more as Xfinity customers and seeing how it works first hand has put calling Comcast about it on my to do list this week.
Xfinity Home offers 24/7 professional security monitoring that can be armed and disarmed anywhere in the world with a wireless connection and the Xfinity Home app. The Xfinity Home system records up to 10 days of live video monitoring to allow you to see activity at your home. You can also have video clips sent to you via text or email and receive real time notifications to let you know when a door is opened in your home.
- Set a rule to have a video texted to you at 2:45p, so you can see that your children walked through the door from school.
- Going away on vacation and leaving the teens at home? Set a rule to be notified if someone opens your liquor cabinet!
- At the holidays, set a rule for your holiday lights to go on everyday at 5p.
- Set a rule so that your living room lights turn on and your heat goes up when you come home from work between 4 and 6p on weekdays.
Did you leave the house and forget to lower the air conditioning or turn off lights? The remote thermostat control helps you to manage your energy consumption by controlling the lights and thermostat! You can access your Xfinity Home system on the X1, through the voice remote, on the touch screen console, online or through the Xfinity Home app on your mobile devices. If you already have an existing security system, the Xfinity Home can work with it!
I’ll be honest, when it comes to using my phone, I have a lot to learn! I couldn’t believe how much I was missing out from using Xfinity Apps!
- Pay your bills, manage appointments, view or edit your WiFi password and even troubleshoot your devices through the Xfinity My Account app. One of my favorite features is that now you can have Xfinity call YOU back at your convenience if you need to speak to them!
- Xfinity Stream allows you to stream live TV, your DVR’d shows, Xfinity On Demand at home or on the go! You will have access to 200+ channels outside of the house! Plus, you can download up to 10 movies or television shows to be able to watch on the go (without needing WiFi access)!
With these apps, Xfinity has allowed you to make any device with you, your TV!
Just released today is Xfinity’s new xFi, a new and personalized WiFi that will use a simple digital dashboard for you to be able to set up your home WiFi network, find your password, see what devices are connected, troubleshoot, set parental controls, pause WiFI access to individual devices and more! xFi will give you unprecedented control over today’s most important technology in your home — WiFi.
To get started, customers simply need to visit www.xfinity.com/myxfi or download the xFi app (for iOS and Android). xFi is now available to the 10 million Xfinity Internet customers with a compatible Xfinity WiFi device – the xFi Wireless Gateway or the xFi Advanced Gateway – and comes at no extra cost.
