10 First Aid Musts for When You Travel
This post has been sponsored by Pfizer Consumer Healthcare. All thoughts and reviews are my own.
A few years ago on our family vacation to Myrtle Beach, my daughter got very sick. It’s about 10 hour drive to South Carolina and by the time we got to Fayetteville, North Carolina it was clear we needed a trip to the ER. Her fever was about 104 and she was screaming in pain that her stomach hurt.
That was the last trip I ever took without being prepared. I make list after list of things to pack on a trip, but the things I never thought to pack? The things we need for when we are sick! If I had everything I needed, it would saved us the stress from having to find out what ER was the best and an expensive pharmacy visit at 2am.
- Prescription medication
- Anti-itch cream
- Band Aids
- Allergy medicine
- Cough medicine
- cough drops
- Anti-pain medicine
Some of my favorites that I pack when Sick Just Got Real.™ are Children’s Advil®, Children’s Robitussin® and Children’s Dimetapp® Multi-Symptom Cold Relief Dye-Free. Why?
Well I know that my kids’ aches and pains will be eased while reducing a their fever fast with Children’s Advil®, it’s a great solution for kids as young as 2 and up to 11. Children’s Advil® comes in several great-tasting flavors, including: Sugar-free Dye-free Berry, Bubble Gum, Grape, Blue Raspberry, Fruit and Dye-Free White Grape flavors. There’s also Infants’ Advil® White Grape, which provides unsurpassed fever relief (among OTC pain relievers) with a syringe for easy dosing for children 6-23 months.
For your child’s cough, you can trust Children’s Robitussin® Extended-Release 12 Hour Cough Relief to control and relieve symptoms all-day or all- night. Available in grape or orange flavor, for children ages 4 and up. Please note, certain Children’s Robitussin® products are only suitable for children ages 6 and up.
Children’s Dimetapp® Multi-Symptom Cold Relief Dye-Free eases your child’s stuffy and runny nose, while quieting a bothersome cough. All in a great-tasting grape flavor that’s dye-free, for children 6 and up.
I love they offer dye free options, since you know my daughter has a food dye allergy.

My son is two years older than my daughter and has never been to the school nurse yet! My daughter who started Kindergarten in September, I swear she is in the school nurses office at least twice a week! Thankfully, when I can’t be around during the school day, school nurses are the caregivers that look after our children.

- Does your school nurse go above and beyond in educating and comforting their students? We want to hear about them! Nominations will be accepted nationwide from anyone who would like to honor their exemplary school nurse.
- One nurse from each state plus Washington D.C. will win a prize valued at $500 and will be entered to win the grand prize: the title of America’s Greatest School nurse and a trip for a getaway from school sickness.
