With two kids going back to school this summer, I am already feeling the loss in my pocket. But, with a little planning and know how, back to school shopping doesn’t have to be stressful or break the bank! Here are 6 Back to School Saving Hacks to change the way you think about back to school!
Forget brand loyalty. Pick up the store brand of glue sticks, markers, pencils and other supplies on your child’s back to school list.
Wait a few weeks after school to pick up items that aren’t essential for the first day of school, as you can find the same supplies for as much as 90% off! I usually use this time to stock up on supplies I may need for the entire year as well.
I am picking up clothing items for back to school now, weeks before the 1st day of school. Many stores all have deeply discounted and clearance items right now to make room for this season’s new fall styles.
Make lists! Go through your children’s closest and inventory what they need. Look at your school’s supply lists. Keep your lists with you and check off what you pick up so you do not buy duplicates. Shopping all summer long ensures that you are not paying top dollar at the last minute in a rush!
Reuse what you already have. My kids both came home with barely used notebooks (as in 1 or 2 pages were used), I tore those pages out and they’ll be going right back in their book bags for this year’s class!
Earn gift cards that you can then use to purchase back to school items!
From July 15th through July 21st, save $10 on your next grocery order when you purchase $100 of ANY gift cards at Acme or Shaw’s grocery stores! Cash in on the savings by buying your gift cards before you do your shopping and then use them like cash!
