Nintendo’s Yo-kai Watch Game
Recently, as we were driving home from my son’s occupational therapy appointment, I let him know that we would go home, have dinner and then head out to his cub scout meeting. “We’re always so busy,” he replied.
While in theory, we aren’t THAT busy, to him we are. Between school all day, cub scouts, baseball and now occupational therapy, there is very little time to just sit and unwind. After school, he needs a solid half hour to forty five minutes to unwind and decompress by himself. He gets about an hour a day to play his video games. I think as adults we tend to forget kids need time to themselves too!
One of his favorite ways to decompress is playing on his Nintendo 3DS. Over the past few months, your child may be talking about the new Nintendo’s Yo-kai Watch game. I know it’s been our new favorite! The Yo-kai Watch is a video game craze in Japan and it’s made it’s way over to the United States. This is the first time it’s been available!
It took me a bit to understand what Yo-kai actually were! It’s funny how kids understand and pick up so quickly on these types of things! Your child will have to find and befriend hundreds of mischievous Yo-Kai as the Yo-kai Coach named Nate. Nate is given a special watch that lets him find and see the invisible to the human eye Yo-kai. He then needs to turn them into a team to battle against other Yo-kai. Each Yo-kai has their own set of skills, so as a Yo-kai coach you will need to use these skills to solve problems. What I have noticed about the game is that it is very full of lots of game play. There’s a fun story line that send you on quests, there are items to collect, beautiful graphics, fun and quirky characters and so much more that will have your child immersed in the world of Yo-kai watch! The themes of the Yo-kai Watch game center around friendship and problem solving.
