10 Must See Places to Visit with Kids
We love to travel! When we had kids, it really didn’t stop us! I’ll never forget when my son was 9 months old, my husband got orders to go to Hawaii for 2 weeks. The first thing I did was hop on the computer find myself airfare and away I went. It was probably the last time I was going to need airfare for 1, I was a stay at home mom and had no other plans, so why not! Since my husband flew with the military, I flew with my then 10 month old son on my lap from Newark, NJ to Honolulu with layovers in Phoenix and Los Angeles.
So, where have we been that I would recommend to take your kids?
Yogi Bear’s Campground – For years my husband would say no to camping. I finally convinced him that a stay at Yogi Bear’s campground was just what we needed and he said yes after hearing it was a beautiful cabin. This was by far the most relaxing 3 days our family ever has had, even the dog loved it!
Ocean City, NJ – After many years of hearing my friends say how much they loved Ocean City, NJ. It’s a dry city, so compared to a lot of other shore locations, you won’t find party goers, it’s all families just like yourself. We enjoyed mini golf, lounging at the beach, Gillian’s Wonderland Pier and much more.
Great Wolf Lodge – After seeing many commercials for Great Wolf Lodge, we finally made the kid’s dreams come true and took a visit. While the water park was amazing, the kids really enjoyed playing MagiQuest, story time, the shows in the lobby and the buffet.
Philadelphia, PA – Even though we live only an hour from Philly, we never visit! I had no idea there was so much for families to do. Between the Magic Gardens, the museums, the historical sites like the Liberty Bell and the Constitution Center, delicious food and more, it is the perfect place to spend a few nights!
Williamsburg, VA – For many years, we took visits to Williamsburg because that is where my husband was training with the military. While my husband would be at work, the kids and I enjoyed the beautiful Yankee Candle outlet, Busch Gardens and all of the wonderful historical sites that Williamsburg has to offer.
Fayetteville, NC – On our way down to Myrtle Beach, we made a stop over at Fayetteville, NC. It was the perfect place to stop if you are headed down to Florida, as many of the visitors at our hotel were driving down to Disney. You can read about what we did for the 24 hours we were there here.
Myrtle Beach – We first visited Myrtle Beach a few years ago after I found a very awesome Groupon. It’s about an 8 hour drive from New Jersey. We then went on to visit Myrtle Beach 3 more times after our initial visit! What we love about Myrtle Beach is that essentially once you get into town, you don’t have to spend another dime. We stay at hotels like the Crown Reef that has a water park included, so even on rainy days you have something to do with the kids. You can find my full things to do in Myrtle Beach post here.
Disney World – Do we need to say more?
Honolulu, Hawaii – Yes! I was shocked at how kid friendly the city was. We visited the zoo, aquarium, the Dole Pineapple Factory, went to many beaches, ate lots of food and we were able to walk everywhere.
