5 Ways to Self Care as a Mom + Snack Ideas
As busy moms, we very rarely take the time we need for ourselves. Taking time for ourselves is in integral part of self-care. How can we possibly take care of anyone else if we are not taken care of? I can tell you first hand that when you are stressed and ridden with anxiety, so will your children, making it an endless cycle.
Wake up earlier.
While the thought of waking up earlier than your children sounds daunting. Think about how wonderful that hot cup of coffee will be.
End your work day.
Kids are in bed? Time to end your day. Dishes, laundry, dirty floors, guess what? It will all be there tomorrow. Spend the nights doing what you like. Maybe read a book, work on a hobby, catch up on the DVR, talk to your husband or friend without interruptions.
Go for a walk.
Even with the kids in tow if you have to! Get outside and enjoy nature. Meet up with friends at the park. Pack a picnic lunch.
Make a date night for yourself at least once a week.
Hire a local trustworthy teen, ask a family member, switch off with friends to trade babysitting services. Make it a priority. Use the time to do whatever you’d like. Maybe you just get a coffee somewhere, maybe your husband takes you out to dinner and a movie, maybe you meet up with an old friend and catch up.
Make time to nourish yourself.
