School has been underway for about a month now and everyone has really taken to our new routine and schedule. My son in particularly is loving first grade and it’s been such a breath of fresh air to me to see this after a rough year of kindergarten. His only complaint at the end of the school day?
I can’t say I blame the poor guy as his grade eats lunch at 10am, working snack time is at 1pm and then school gets out at 3:30pm. I’ve really adjusted what I am giving him in his lunchbox because it is clear he needs foods that are going to sustain him all day. After school snacks are no different.
The problem with changing up our lunches and after school snacks is that it requires more planning and more food! Just when I thought my children truly couldn’t eat anymore, back to school proved me wrong. Thankfully, Acme is celebrating the Fall season with a Stock Up sale from September 30th to October 15th.
Products like Honey Nut Cheerios, Yoplait Original Strawberry Yogurt, Nature Valley Crunchy Oats N Honey Granola Bars and Progresso Traditional Chicken Noodle Soup are currently on sale. I love that my local Acme offers me a great opportunity to save money when I feed my ever hungry family!
Like I said, I have been trying to get creative in ways to keep the after school hunger at bay! Sometimes the day does not end when school does. There is still Cub Scouts, Dance, Doctor appointments, and that pesky homework to take care of. I am trying to give snacks that will keep them full, happy and sustained until dinnertime.
The kids favorite snack right now are these Strawberry Banana Cheerio Pops!
After we got home from Acme, my daughter and I prepared snack for that afternoon and it took barely 10 minutes to put these together. These would be a great idea if you are in charge of snack at your children’s sports games too!
Here’s what you need to make my Strawberry Banana Cheerio Pops!
- 12.5oz Honey Nut Cheerios
- 2-3 Yoplait Original Strawberry Yogurt
- 2 Bananas
- Popsicle Sticks
I save Popsicle sticks so that we can recycle them into crafts or recipes like this!
Pour the Yoplait Original Strawberry Yogurt onto a dish, Pour 1-2 cups of Honey Nut Cheerios onto a second plate. Dip the banana into the yogurt & then cover in Honey Nut Cheerios.
Place onto a parchment paper lined dish.
Freeze for about an hour. The kids can enjoy the Strawberry Banana Cheerio Pops frozen or slightly dethawed.
